Any students/players interested a soccer scholarship while attaining a University degree?
The final date for application for the Maynooth University Soccer Scholarship Program is April 1st 2017 if applying for September 2017.
Minimum academic requirements are outlined in the information leaflet available online. Maynooth University Soccer Club is a rapidly growing club which has seen great success in recent years. At present there are eight squads representing the clubs in third level competition, five men & three ladies.
Maynooth University Soccer Club representative teams compete in the CUFL (Colleges & Universities Football League), the IUFU (Irish Universities Football Union) & the WSCAI (Women Soccer Colleges Association of Ireland). League competitions are played in semester 1 & cup competitions are played in semester 2. The third level soccer season runs from September to March annually.
The soccer program is overseen by Maynooth University and FAI soccer development officer Barry Prenderville. Barry is a former professional player and an experienced coach, holding a UEFA A Coaching License. Barry is a former Cherry Orchard player, whom he won the 1993 Northern Ireland Milk Cup with, before eventually signing for Coventry City. Barry went on to have spells with Hibernian, Oldham Athletic, St. Patrick’s Athletic, Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers.
The Program is no stranger to former Cherry Orchard players. Former Orchard schoolboy players such as, Jake Corrigan, Conor Mooney, Conor Dunne, Daragh Gannon, Jamie McGrath, Jordan Delmar, Karl Keogh, Jack Bayley and Daragh Markey have all been apart or are currently apart of the scholarship program In Maynooth University.
Participation at all levels is central to the ethos of Maynooth University soccer club. With 300 members of Maynooth University soccer club you will find soccer is a major activity on campus. The annual Internal 7 aside league & the Internal 5 aside Futsal league ensure that all recreational participants are catered for. For those who would like to get on the coaching ladder, Maynooth University Soccer Club hosts a number of coaching courses with our partners the FAI annually. Maynooth University Soccer Club have an established link with St Patrick’s Athletic FC of the League of Ireland. This partnership provides student athletes with the following:
