Cherry Orchard U12 Premier claimed the title of SFAI National Cup winners by defeating a gallant Mallow United 1-0 in St Colmans Park Cobh on Saturday afternoon. The campaign was a very long but very rewarding one with 5 of the 7 games played away from home. The team scored an impressive 35 goals and only conceded 2 over those games and kept 3 clean sheets in the quarter final, semi-final and final.
The team management would like to thank John O’Regan Secretary of Corinthians AFC Cork for his kind hospitality in letting us use his clubs fine facilities in preparation for the final, we would also like to thank Bobby Flood the club Physio for Trojan work in getting players fit for the big day, we would also like to thank Glen Kelly (Club Secretary) and Glen Cronin (Director of Football) for their support which was invaluable and Eoin O'Sullivan Chairman of Cobh Ramblers FC and his ground staff for allowing us to inspect the pitch and facilities the day before the game.
Finally we would like to thank the players and their families who gave great support to the team and those families will have cherished memories for the rest of their lives.
